Tonkiner Cafe in Nuremberg feels like a small retreat for anyone leaning towards a relaxed coffee break with a touch of Japanese-inspired flair. Situated on Augustinerstraße, this cafe offers a calm atmosphere that invites both solo visitors who want to savor a quiet cup and friends meeting for a light lunch. The space is cozy without feeling cramped, and the service leans friendly and attentive, making it easy to settle in whether you’re popping by for a morning boost or an afternoon pause.

Their coffee lineup stands out especially for those who appreciate specialty preparations that stray from the usual espresso-based drinks. The Strawberry Latte Snow Matcha Coffee and various takes on matcha and black sesame lattes showcase the café’s attention to balanced, nuanced flavors—often unsweetened or lightly sweetened to highlight the ingredients themselves. These drinks, paired with delicate desserts like Japanese roll cakes, cheesecake, or pistachio cream rolls, work well for anyone craving a refined taste experience without overwhelming sweetness.

Lunch here leans on light, inventive dishes with an Asian twist — rice sandwiches with chicken or tofu and avocado paired with sesame sauce are favorites among regulars. The vegan and vegetarian options, like the tofu rice sandwich and vegan banana bread, are notably satisfying and suit a range of dietary preferences, making the spot a reliable pick for those looking for a more health-conscious midday meal.

The best time to visit tends to be the quieter hours before lunch or late afternoon when the cafe fills with the soft murmur of conversation and the scent of freshly brewed beans and baked goods. Locals often come here for both work breaks and casual catch-ups, drawn by the calm vibe and the care put into each coffee and dessert.

In sum, Tonkiner Cafe offers a refreshing alternative to the usual coffee routines, especially for visitors and locals who appreciate skillfully crafted drinks and light, thoughtful meals in an unpretentious, laid-back setting.

Amazing Café! if you want the right tasting unsweetened Matcha Latte, then this is the place! For lunch I ate vegetarian and vegan, I'd recommend the rice sandwich with Tofu + Avocado with Sesame sauce The vegan orange banana bread was also really juicy and filling Wish this Café was in my hometown!

Small nice place for a great coffee "specialtys". They have many types of drinks, all looks nice and tasty. Didn't try any food, but i saw some nice plates at another tables. The workers were also friendly and nice

The strawberry matcha was not a coffee but an art! Although the sandwich could have been richer in taste, I had an overall good experience. Girls in service were super friendly, polite and professional. The interior as well as the atmosphere were very chill and relaxing

Toniker Café in Nuremberg is a cozy gem that dessert lovers shouldn't miss. Nestled in the heart of the city, this charming spot offers a delightful array of sweet treats and refreshing cold drinks, making it the perfect place to take a break while exploring the area. Their cake pops are a must-try — perfectly portioned, moist, and beautifully decorated. Each bite delivers rich flavor without being overly sweet. The cupcakes are just as impressive, with soft, fluffy bases and creamy, flavorful frostings in a variety of unique and classic flavors. The café also offers a good selection of cold drinks to pair with your treats — from iced coffees to refreshing lemonades, there’s something for everyone. The service is friendly, and the ambiance is warm, with stylish decor that makes it a great place to unwind or catch up with friends. Such a charming cafe with sweet vibes and incredibly helpful, polite service. I absolutely loved the pumpkin spice latte—it was perfectly made! We also tried two different rice sandwiches, and they were absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely be coming back to explore more drinks from their menu. Highly recommend!

I have mixed feelings. The service was friendly and by the time i reached (11 am) it was empty so i could enjoy my time freely. However i would say it gets crowded after 12 and the tables are too close from each other. I came here for how nice the cakes and their cups look, but the cakes were not there until almost 1 pm (Openning time was at 10 am) and the drinks you see on the menu are cold drinks (which they don't explain) so the cup i got was different although ordering the same. The one on the picture is snow matcha (€6.50). I may say it is overpriced and there are no sizes, only large ones. So far is like they were not ready to open because even the floor was dirty and they were finishing to have breakfast on the kitchen. I would say they need to change their openning times or you should go in the afternoon with a reservation. The toilet is outside on the next building.

I really enjoyed the matcha latte here it’s smooth, rich, and not overly bitter. For anyone who doesn’t like drinks too sweet, I recommend trying it with oat milk . It gives the latte a lighter, nutty flavor that works really well with the matcha. They also serve a variety of delicious pastries, which make a perfect pairing with the drinks. Definitely worth stopping by.
